About Me – Jill Phoenix
A little about me, I am a native of Omaha, Nebraska, but have lived in these beautiful mountains since 2002. I spent many years traveling the US in search of my forever home, after spending five years in Seattle. I decided to establish my roots here in Asheville, after spending 24 hours here in 1998! I have such a deep appreciation for the mountains and have really enjoyed living here and watching this small, sleepy, artsy town grow and flourish as one of the best kept secrets into one of the most sought after places to visit and live.
I moved here, after leaving Seattle, with my best friend, Love, an Alaskan Malamute, German Shepherd mix. Love was the best traveling companion a girl could ask for. After 13 years together, and traveling through 47 States and 3 Canadian Provinces together over the years, my sweet Love passed away at the age of 16, but she lives on in my heart. After her passing, I legally changed my name to hers, and had her paw print tattooed on my foot, so we can continue to hold paws forever.
I am currently still a dog mama, and am lucky enough to share custody with my wonderful friend. We have a beautiful hound, Reba Lou, who adopted us 10 years ago. While Reba prefers life on her farm, I am thrilled to get to spend as much time as possible taking her on awesome adventures all over our mountains.
Needless to say, I am a bit of a dog lover! I also love cats, fish, birds, rabbits…you name it. If it is alive and needs care, I am your girl! I spent my first 18 years of life on farms in the Midwest, and have cared for all kinds of creatures. I have owned chickens and ducks as well, and have a wide range of abilities to care for your animals and pets. My sweet Love required a lot of special care as she aged, and I am happy to discuss any special needs care your baby may require.
As a former Realtor, I have been a House Sitter for many clients, who don’t like to leave their homes unattended while traveling or splitting up their time between homes. Don’t have a pet, but want someone who you can trust in your home? I can do that too!
When I am not busy taking care of pets or selling homes, you can find me in the woods, either hiking, mountain biking, or camping, exploring all this beautiful area has to offer. I am also training to become a certified yoga instructor, and love to spend my free time volunteering in our community.
While I prefer to stay overnight in your home, so all involved sleep well, you included while away from your baby, I am happy to accommodate home visits during the day. Keep in mind that most dogs do require 2-3 visits and/or walks a day. I also prefer to visit cats/birds/livestock/fish etc..at least once a day.
